Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say preliminary tests show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
